Anyone who has lived through a Cleveland winter knows the moment when lake-effect snow stops being a forecast and becomes a fact of life. Usually it lands sometime in mid to late November, and once it arrives, outdoor work gets complicated fast.
That is why our holiday lighting season is shorter here than in most metros.
The Window
October through early December is the bulk of our install season. Crews are out from sunrise to sundown most days, hitting the west side from Avon and Westlake out through Strongsville, and the east side from Shaker Heights up through Mentor and out to Chagrin Falls and Hudson.
By early to mid December, the larger snow events start rolling in. Roofs become unsafe, ground crews lose visibility, and what should be a three hour install turns into a six hour install in heated jackets.
What This Means for You
If you have ever called a lighting company in late November and been told they are completely booked, this is why. The math is simple. We have a finite number of crews and a finite number of dry weather days.
The properties that book by Labor Day get the prime install dates. The properties that wait until October take whatever is left.
Booking Timeline We Recommend
- **By Labor Day:** Lock in pre-Thanksgiving install
- **By October 1:** Lock in pre-mid-December install
- **After October 15:** We will fit you in but cannot promise specific dates
Why We Will Not Cut Corners
We have turned down jobs in mid-December when crews could not safely access a steep roof. That is not the answer customers want to hear, but it is the honest one. Working a slate roof in two inches of fresh lake-effect snow is how installers get hurt, and how lights end up half hung.
