Counterintuitive maybe, but our best customers book October installs. Here is the math on why earlier is better in a lake-effect market.
Most people think about holiday lighting in November. Some not until they see neighbors going up around Thanksgiving. We get it. The instinct is to wait until it feels seasonal.
But for Northeast Ohio specifically, the customers who get the best results book October installs. Here is why.
Weather Math
October in Cleveland still gets you mid 50s daytime highs on average, with mostly dry conditions. By the time mid to late November rolls around, the first lake-effect events are usually firing. By early December the season is wide open.
Our crew can install on a 55 degree dry October afternoon in roughly half the time it takes on a 28 degree windy November morning. That math affects scheduling, quality of work, and quote pricing on tighter properties.
The Calendar Reality
We have a fixed number of crews and a fixed number of usable installation days between October 1 and Thanksgiving. Every year more customers find us and the calendar fills earlier.
In 2024, we were fully booked for pre-Thanksgiving installs by mid October. Customers who called in November got December slots or had to wait until 2025.
This is not a sales pitch. It is just how the math works in our market.
You Do Not Have to Turn Them On
A lot of customers worry that an October install means the lights are on for Halloween whether they want it or not. It does not. We install the lights, plug them into the timer or controller, and you decide when to flip the switch. Some folks turn them on the day after Thanksgiving. Others run them all season. That is up to you.
What October Buying Looks Like
When you book a pre-Thanksgiving install in October:
- You get your preferred install date
- The crew is fresh and not racing the weather
- Quotes tend to be more accurate because we can see the property in good light
- In-season service is faster because we are not already overbooked
The Takeaway
If you have ever been frustrated by being told a lighting company is too busy or had to settle for a December install, the answer is to call earlier. October is not too early. October is the right window in Northeast Ohio.
Call us or fill out the form. We will walk the property, send you a quote, and lock in your install date.
